About Your Dentist

Christie Leedy, DDS

There have been many things in Dr. Christie Leedy's life that have shaped her into the woman she is today. Being the first female in her family in 50 years, growing up with four younger brothers in the small town of Haskell, Texas, having parents, Nan and Tommy McAdams, pour into her life as role models, working at the local hospital during high school, and having the current First Lady of Texas, Anita Thigpen Perry, as her supervisor and mentor have instilled a deep passion and commitment into the highly experienced, family-friendly dentist she is today.

Dr. Christie had the honor of attending the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where she earned her dental degree before opening her first practice in Anson, Texas in 1984. Eight years later, she relocated and opened her current practice in Abilene, Texas, where she proudly raised her two sons, Corey and Jace, as she sought to create beautiful smiles and boost the self-esteem of her patients.

She had the privilege of watching her sons grow up and opened her house as the gathering place for all the neighborhood kids. She joined in on the fun hosting makeshift basketball tournaments and karaoke nights for all the kids to enjoy. She is proud of how she has balanced motherhood and her career and raised sons who are young adults pursuing their dreams. She now supports and encourages her sons in their journeys at TCU and Texas Tech University. She also enjoys watching her nieces and nephews in all their various activities.

Growing up in a small town has left Dr. Christie with a profound appreciation for the community where friendships feel more like family. She actively serves on several boards and committees, including the Noah Project, which is the local domestic violence shelter, Go Red for Women Campaign, American Heart Association and the Texas Women's Commission. She is also a speaker and mentor for Young and Motivated, a program that helps to enable young adults to transform into the leaders of tomorrow.

Apart from her local community commitments, Dr. Christie is actively involved in the dental community as well. In fact, she was appointed by Governor Perry to serve on the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners in 2011. She also keeps memberships with such professional organizations as the:

  • American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
  • American Dental Association
  • Texas Dental Association
  • Academy of General Dentistry
  • American Academy for Oral Systemic Health (founding member)

To give back to the community, she created the Angel Smiles program, where dentists can donate a smile to someone in need and in memory of someone they love.

Her years of experience and expertise coupled with her compassion and love for children and dentistry has labeled Dr. Christie as a "Super Dentist" in cosmetic dentistry by the Texas Monthly for the past eight years. This is an honor that is voted on by her peers. She was also featured on the KTAB news segment "Healthy Living 4 U," where she educates viewers on the latest advancements in dentistry, as well as the Winter 2010 edition of the Abilene Living, which showcased her love for her patients and her community. She also participates in "Tooth Tuesday" weekly radio spot that promotes dental health awareness on all local Cumulus stations.

In 2012, Dr. Christie was a participant in "Dancing with the Abilene Stars" to benefit the Hendrick Home for Children.

Dr. Christie, as her patients call her, looks forward to meeting you and your family and helping you achieve and maintain beautiful, healthy smiles that will last a lifetime!
